Open Data Project for Schools users of Attendance Matters can use our new “X Code tracking” function to see the effect that Covid-19 is having on their pupil attendance.
We know that managing attendance can be a laborious process involving spreadsheets and data exports, and the ambiguous new use of the existing Code X is causing issues for data managers, teachers and school leaders.
The DfE has issued guidance to schools which requires all pupils not attending school in circumstances relating to Covid-19 to be recorded under the “not required to be in school” X Code. This code is not counted as an absence in the school census.
Many attendance systems aren’t configured to isolate these X Code absences as part of day-to-day absence reporting.
Our team have been working hard over the past few months to ensure that your school attendance data takes these X Codes into account both at pupil and cohort level. Our X Code feature can be turned on and off at the click of a button meaning the comparison is easy to make and interpret.
To use this new X Code filter simply click “include X Codes” in the top right hand corner whenever the option appears.
The X Code filter is available to turn on and off at school, years, registration groups and individual pupil level. The schools who have been involved in testing this new feature say that it is saving them many hours, especially when it comes to submitting their daily Covid-19 absence returns.
Open Data Project Members can book on to one of our free, live webinars to see the new X Code features in action. Book now.
