ASCL, askEddi and the Open Data Project are building a data sharing solution to ease pupil transition from Year 6 to Year 7.

The SixIntoSeven platform cuts out the need for assessment and allows primary teachers to make professional judgements on their Year 6 pupils which will be securely shared with their destination secondary school.

The transition period between primary and secondary school is challenging enough in normal circumstances for both pupils and teachers. If Year 6 pupils return to school next month as planned we hope to save them the stress of testing and instead allow teachers to record judgements on knowledge and progress through classwork and observation.

Data input and collation will be quick and easy, with primary schools only needing to enter and share the data on their cohort once, while the platform matches pupils with the secondary schools’ records.
